👮 Community Update – Local Policing Activity 👮‍♂️

Over the last week, our Neighbourhood Policing Team and PCSOs have been active across the area, carrying out patrols and responding to issues raised by the community.

🔹 7 April: Officers acted quickly on information about a suspect vehicle in the Nunnery Lane area. The vehicle was located within minutes, leading to three arrests for shop theft. Two people have been charged, and one was released with no further action. The vehicle was seized.

🔹 9 April:
• A male wanted for failing to appear at York Magistrates’ Court was located in Chapelfields during patrols and arrested.
• During Operation Harmony patrols on Front Street, a female wanted for a shop theft at Heron Foods was located and has since been charged.
• Officers also dealt with anti‑social behaviour in Derwenthorpe, using Section 35 dispersal powers to address youth‑related ASB.

🔹 10 April: Officers attended an address in Holgate and arrested a male for shop theft and failing to appear at court. Following a search of the address, he was further arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. He has been charged with the shop theft and remains in custody to appear before court.

In addition to this, officers continue with:

 ✅ Hotspot patrols
✅ Community coffee mornings and engagement events
✅ Safeguarding visits to residents
✅ Regular engagement with local businesses

👉 As part of Operation Harmony, PCSOs are working closely with local businesses in Acomb to address ongoing youth‑related ASB, including concerns around youths climbing onto roofs, causing damage and placing themselves at risk. Partnership work is ongoing to find a long‑term solution.
